The 3 O’Clock Jassi Report
Core Curriculum- Facts and Information
In this video Jassi is pretending that she is a news reporter. Jassi has done some research around the topic of What time should your chlid go to bed? Research suggests that many children with autism and developmental disabilities have trouble with sleep routines and lack of sleep is also reported by parents as one of the most concerning challenges of raising a child with autism.
Jassi gives her viewers some interesting facts about recommended sleep times based on the child’s age. Often individuals with autism respond well with rules and routine. Teaching your child rules around age and bedtimes could help support healthy bedtime routines.
When Eliza was a young toddler she responded well to having a regular sleep time and routine for which she had to be explicitly taught. This has continued throughout her life and as a young adult she has a very healthy sleep routine which helps support her being alert and engaging in her daily activities the next day.
Also this video touches on the concept of “keep going” even if things start to go wrong. As the set props start to fall away Jassi keeps going and maintains a sense of humour by laughing and not becoming upset because her segment isn’t perfect.
