Jassi Plays Yes or No
Core Curriculum Area – Language and communication skills
In this video Jassi is doing her work,to make it more fun Jassi is sorting the answers into yes or no categories using different shaped sunglasses bowls which she has made.If the answer is yes then the card is put in the heart shaped sunglasses. If the answer is no then the card goes in the circle shaped sunglasses.
This is an example of a structured teaching strategy using principals from the Teacch program. This keeps Jassi motivated and on task and she has organization and visually can see how much work she needs to do and a place to put the cards in as she answers the questions. When the cards have been sorted into yes or no categories then her work is finished. Jassi is motivated because she likes sunglasses and the task is clear and structured to keep her focusses.
Structured Teaching is an Evidence based teaching strategy which supports the visual strengths of children with autism.
